TopHatIn mid-February, a press release went out to area media to announce the Singin’ & Swingin’ at the Hett on June 28, 2013. This event, following the very successful program featuring Christine Brewer last summer, will raise funds for LFUMC ministries, including the Accessibility Renovation Fund. Shirley Schaefer is heading up the team putting the event together.

Singin’ & Swingin’ will feature a distinguished group of McKendree University alums and friends. The six alums are Anna McNeely, Charles Rann, Richard Boyd, Susan Constance, Edward (Ted) Cook, and Mark Gifford. Anna will be joined by pianist Philip Fortenberry. They will be joined by local entrepreneur Ellen Leaf-Moore and area musical personality Norbert Krausz.

Tickets are available through The Hett box office, www.mckendree.edu/the_hett/. Tickets are $25 per person.

The Lebanon First UMC congregation and our guests celebrated a spectacular Christmas season in 2012. The March to the Manger Christmas Pageant was newly reformatted to a Sunday evening presentation. See pictures of the cast and audience that enjoyed the retelling of the stories of our Savior's birth. Over 225 persons attended traditional Christmas Eve services, which featured prayer, preaching and candlelight. Posted January 2013

Update December 17, 2012 - the wall on the East side is complete and work continues on the west side. The rain that fell last week was routed away from the door successfully.

 

  

On November 3, the church hosted the 12th annual Helping Hands Helping Neighbors Dinner & Auction. Proceeds from the annual event support home repairs and improvements for our neighbors. Posted November 4, 2012

There has been so much work on the property the past month or so! Our trustees have worked diligently with contractors to repair damage and keep our buildings in great shape to support all our worship and ministry. Thank you! And thank you to our generous members who have made it possible to maintain proper insurance coverage and with gifts, even from their estates. 2012 Women in Ministry Sunday  On Sunday, October 21, Lebanon First UMC celebrated the ministry of all women in our church. Danielle Harrison was our guest speaker; she encouraged us to "Live it!" Posted October 21, 2012

Lebanon First joins with McKendree to kick off semester On Sunday, August 26, a large number of the members of Lebanon First UMC joined in with students, faculty and staff at Bothwell Chapel on the campus of McKendree University for a combined worship service. Christine Brewer and her friends led a delightful evening of music on Tuesday, July 17 at The Hett, on the campus of McKendree University. A nearly sold-out crowd was thrilled to hear music from several genres.
