The Accessibility Renovation Campaign
The church has embarked on a $250,000 renovation to add an elevator, handicap accessible bathrooms on both floors, a ramp from the education wing into the sanctuary, and an improved drop-off location in the alley.
Lebanon First UMC is taking on this project to provide ease of entrance and exit for families with babies & small children, the handicapped, and the elderly. The renovation will provide new restrooms with ADA facilities with multiple fixtures on both levels. The restrooms will be both visible and accessible. The project will enhance the church’s potential to welcome more people, ease the transition from one worship service to another, enable handicapped and young families to participate more fully, and provide an environment for growth.
On August 4, Ameren Illinois changed out the pole and transformer needed for the project as part of their own upgrade, at no charge to the church.
The pledge campaign continues. Trustee Chair Mike Bennett invites members to step forward to be a part of the Building Committee. “We need all our members to be positive about this renovation,” Bennett said. “Please encourage your friends to support it and encourage everyone to give to the General Fund and the Building Fund.
“The most important thing you can do is to pray that God will bless this endeavor,” he added.
